Caring For Your Gear
Following garment washing instructions will help ensure the adventure gear you purchased from us lasts longer. Washing instructions are printed on a tag inside most of our garments. In general, washing your gear in cold or warm water with mild powder laundry soap and drying it on the line, or tumble drying at the lowest temperature, are the best ways to clean performance gear.
Complimentary Antarctica Parka Care
Your waterproof and breathable parka will serve you well in cold weather when you return from your trip. The fabric is treated with special polymers that prevent the fabric from absorbing moisture, by making water bead up and roll off to minimizing condensation within the garment and maximize breathability. Over time the parka will absorb oil and dirt, the polymers break down, and the waterproof and breathability qualities are reduced. Therefore it is essential to keep your parka clean.
- Wash your parka in warm to cold water with like colors
- Use a mild detergent, never use liquid detergents. For the best performance we recommend washing your parka using a combination of non-detergent Tech Wash and TX-Direct to restore water repellency. Buy Nikwax.
- Avoid using fabric softeners or bleach as the chemicals are harmful to the garment and can block the breathability of your parka
- Tumble dry on a medium heat to help redistribute the polymers on the fabric surface
